Not to be confused with Vladimir Nabokov's sexy protagonist, Lolita is a fashion culture that aims to be more "cute" or "pretty" as compared to "sexy". The fashion itself does not have any clear origins but is speculated to have started in the 1970's when popular Japanese brands started coming out with clothes that are very much Lolita-like.
On the color ground of pink, powderblue, and white, this catena is mainly produced with the material of lace, trying to make out the loveliness and puerility of girls. Girls in general are intended to this lovely style, so most enthusiasts are indicated in this.
Lolita fashion magazines are widely available for purchase on the Internet and at Japanese bookstores which also deal in anime and manga. Adherents often sew their own homemade Lolita outfits, sometimes offering them for sale to make up for the difficulty of acquiring them from Japan.
